Friday 5+1 (5 Things I Love + 1 Thing I Don’t) – 5.26.17

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

I hope you have some fun plans awaiting you this weekend.  We’re gearing up for my oldest son’s high school graduation this weekend, and graduation party next weekend.  The good news is that parties get us motivated to get. stuff. done.  The outside of the house is looking great, and I’m excited to share it with you – it’s almost finished.  Until then, let’s get on with this week’s Friday 5+1!  This post contains some affiliate links.

Coola Sunscreen Primer

I got a sample of the Coola Sunscreen Primer in my last Birchbox, and I have to tell you, I was really impressed.  I’m pretty picky when it comes to primers – Smashbox primers are my favorite – so I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical when it comes to  a primer+sunscreen product.  But, this stuff is very impressive!  It really does double duty, and the primer aspect of it was really good – left my skin really smooth and ready for makeup.  It gets two thumbs up from me!

Pretty Outdoor Patio Pots

Most summers, I plant my own flowers, but with all that’s going on right now, sometimes I just want to buy them and check another item off my to-do list.  This summer is one of those times.  Plus, the local nurseries always have great ideas to emulate, even if you are planting them yourself.  My gardening brain just isn’t that creative.  Check out these pretty patio pots.

These bright and beautiful flowers are really eye-catching, aren’t they?

This nursery always has creative ways to display flowers – how cute is this?

Ultimately, these are the flowers that I bought.  I love the color mix!

The Marriage Lie

I just finished The Marriage Lie, and really enjoyed it overall.  It was one of those books that keeps you guessing, wondering where the story is going to go.  The ending seemed a bit abrupt to me – although I think it would play well as a movie.  Still, a good read.  Here is the Amazon description –

Iris and Will have been married for seven years, and life is as close to perfect as it can be. But on the morning Will flies out for a business trip to Florida, Iris’s happy world comes to an abrupt halt: another plane headed for Seattle has crashed into a field, killing everyone on board and, according to the airline, Will was one of the passengers.

Grief stricken and confused, Iris is convinced it all must be a huge misunderstanding. Why did Will lie about where he was going? And what else has he lied about? As Iris sets off on a desperate quest to uncover what her husband was keeping from her, the answers she finds shock her to her very core.

Corkcicle

I haven’t used this myself, but was told about it, and am very intrigued.  The Corkcicle takes your bottle of wine and chills it to just the right temperature.  This one seems to be just for white wine, but there is one that works for both white and red.

The Corksicle

The Corkcicle Air works for red and white – chills the white and brings the red to just the right temperature.

Every Woman’s Dream Husband

This video really cracked me up – with graduation on the brain, you can see how I could really appreciate the humor in this. 🙂

My +1 for the week – That transition time when the kids get out of school

You know what I’m talking about – it happens at the beginning and end of the school year.  Getting used to the kids being home. All. the. time.  The extra messes, the extra noise, the extra groceries, since they want to eat.  All. the. time.  It takes a couple of weeks to get into the groove, but the transition is always a bit dicey.  Once you’re used to a quiet house, it takes some time.  But then, once they go back to school, you miss the noise.

Have a great (and safe) holiday weekend!

Jenny
