I think it’s an insurance trick. Our insurance increases our deductibles for damage done during “Named Storms”. It used to be increased for “hurricanes”…. call me a cynic, but I think it’s so they can charge more for the winter damage in addition to the summer/fall hurricanes. Just a thought…

I’m a bit mad at myself for not reading the book, because the book is ALWAYS better than the movie! But I loved the movie – what a complex story – you really could empathize with everyone in it – not a cut and dry easy solution to that whole situation!

I read the book a few years ago. I could hardly put it down! Excited that it’s being made into a movie. I prefer to read the book first because the movie is always different. Remember “Cujo”? The movie and book have different endings. I was suprised at the weather storm naming. Here in eastern North Carolina we’re subject to hurricanes, tornadoes, etc…already too many names to keep up with.

We read the book for a book club selection when it first came out. Very good! And agree, it’s a blizzard or nor easter…but a bomb cyclone?!!!

i a so with you on naming storms, but i don’t really like naming things much… furniture? nope.
i loved the light between oceans but it was intense and did take me a while to get into… can’t wait to see the movie!
