Sorry – I don’t know the color. I was only tasked with the cabinets.

How does the wood grain feel? Thats the main issue that I’ve seen with raw wood is that the wood grain raises. If you don’t have an issue – I wouldn’t worry about it. 🙂

I’ve primed with kilz 2 which is water based and already painted. Reading through your blog, I am now concerned that I used water based on a lot of bare wood. It is a maple wood. Do I need to be concEarned that I am going to have problems? Thanks

I really, really want to paint my cabinets Simply White but having a hard time pulling the trigger.
I know you weren’t involved with the flooring, but it looks like it was hardwood in the before and hardwood again the after??
We have hardwood all over main level but after 20 years the color has gotten soooo golden. I’m not sure if I want to invest the $$ to completely sand, re-stain and re-seal just to have the kitchen get all scratched up again in a couple years. We have a floating “wood” plank laminate upstairs that I adore and wears like iron. It would actually be much less expensive to install that ourselves downstairs to float over the orange-y hardwood and give me look I want. Of course my husband thinks I’m crazy to even consider putting laminate over hardwood!! Would that be insane?! I’m sure you know the 20 year old hardwood color I’m talking about!

I’m seeing a little bit of everything around here. At our Homearama, there was a lot of engineered hardwoods in the basements, and hardwoods are still very popular (wider planked, mid-tone). I’m seeing some vinyl plank flooring, but not in the high end homes quite as much. But it’s really come a LONG way! I’ve been really impressed by some of the vinyl plank flooring that’s out there these days!

What trend are you seeing in flooring in kitchens? I am in Wisconsin and at the last parade of homes in my area, so many homes had luxury vinyl plank throughout the first floor. Are you seeing this too in your area? Or are people putting in engineered hardwood or something else?

Thank you!
