They are very hard to keep clean. Everything, even a little splash from a kitchen sink, shows on them. I have moved into a 90s home with honey oak cabinets and I intend to keep them, but your color choices and the granite countertops really set them off in a nice way. Thanks for the great ideas!

It’s color matched to General Finishes Driftwood.

Thank you, Jenny. I will see what I can convince my hubby into. Soft close hinges might work to keep the rattle down of the tinny doors. That thin wood piece that makes up the center of the door just rattles in there. When we do replace cabinets, it will be solid, raised panels in the doors without the mullions dividing the cabinet door opening.

I have used Benjamin Moore’s Advance paint as well as PPG’s Breakthrough – satin finish. Both great products!

I would go for more of an antique white that plays well with the appliances (if they’re not going anywhere). If you go white, it just draws attention to the difference in color between the appliances and the cabinets. If your cabinets are making noises when you open/close – look at replacing the hinges until you can replace the cabinets altogether.

Mine are the same style as the first kitchen that you painted them white. But, I have the bisque/light almond appliances. Only problem is, I am frustrated with my cabinets. I would love to be rid of them. Some of the doors rattle when you close them. It’s like that center piece is loose, and they sound tinny when you close them. I have a blind cabinet/corner that everything gets lost in the back. Lastly, my husband likes the oak. I don’t. Oak trim, cabinets, and doors are an overload. If I could paint them until we can afford to replace them all, that would be wonderful. I am stuck on a color too. We also replaced our floors to a darker color. When considering the darker floor, light almond appliances, cream, soft green, and soft gold decor, what color would you recommend?

I don’t know Jocelyn – I’m going to have to ask the homeowner, as I’ve had a lot of people ask about them!

Any chance you know what flooring the first kitchen now has? I’m looking for a dark wood and that is gorgeous! Thanks!
