Hello!
I’m back from a glorious short getaway to California with my husband, and can I just tell you how much good some warmth and sunshine has done for this midwestern girl? The older I get, the more certain I become that I will be a snowbird of some sort. The dreary winter days just wear you down. Thankfully, I came back home to some sunshine, which has made the transition a wee bit easier. But, while we were there, I was able to capture some adorable beach properties that I’m sure you will appreciate as much as I did. So, let’s take a beach house walking tour, shall we?
The one upside to the houses being so close together when you’re near the ocean in California, is that house stalkers like myself, can get a great view of pretty front doors. Not in a creepy way, but in an appreciative way. I love this clean and simple front porch, with the glass front door.
This stunner was one that I fell in love with immediately. The crisp white exterior and stone work, coupled with the black mullioned windows – does it get any better than that? I saw a lot of the black mullioned windows, by the way. Makes me love them even more.
Here is a side view of the house. This home is actually a duplex, can you believe it? This is one duplex that I could live in without complaint.
The beach cottages were equally charming, especially when you throw in a brick paved sidewalk and a bunch of windows. I mean, thinking ahead, when the kids are out of the house, my husband and I don’t need much room in a vacation home, right? 😉
More with the brick walkway – such a charming addition that creates such curb appeal.
The great thing about walking the streets and looking at all of these homes, is that there were so many different styles, but all offered their own charm and character.
Any house with cedar shakes always grabs my attention.
The way the landscaping curved over the top of the window in this cute little cottage made it even more adorable. Like something out of a storybook. Complete with a white picket fence of course.
Again with the clean and crisp white house. Just can’t resist it!
The outdoor areas were equally inviting (and I love how the house number is spelled out on this exterior – it just ups the class factor for me for some reason).
This home is off the charts on charm – perfect little cottage, ready to entertain with a beautiful patio.
This little house is packed with punch – outdoor lights, window boxes, cozy patio furniture – all you need now is some wine and cheese!
Nights can get a little chilly in California during the winter, so add a heater outside in order to keep your outdoor entertaining going. Love the brick herringbone pattern on this patio (and the cute succulent planter doesn’t hurt either).
And the charm factor doesn’t end with the houses in this neighborhood. Even the street signs are off the charts with character.
I’m finally getting my internal clock back to normal (of course I had just gotten used to Pacific time when I had to turn around and come home). Now I’m back to work with lots of projects in the works!
I hope you enjoyed this beach home walking tour as much as I did!

February 8, 2017 at 8:06 amWhat a fun walking tour – so many beautiful homes! How nice you got to spend some time in warm California. I am getting tired of this dreary winter. We live in NJ and are expecting a big snow storm late tonight. Luckily, it hasn’t been a bad winter so far but I am ready for some warmer weather – and sunshine! Thanks for taking us along on your walk! Enjoy your day!
