Hello friends!
After 20 years of working in the corporate world, I turned in my resignation on Monday. Yes, there will be one less rat in the Rat Race beginning in April. It was not an easy decision, and if you’re a change-phobe like me, you can appreciate what a monumental life shift this is.
But, in the end, it’s all good. I was reading an article in “Real Simple” last week, and came across an article called “10 Things Your Mother Never Taught You”, and among them was “How to Walk Away”. There was some good advice that resonated with me as I go through this process, and one key point was to look at leaving a job as “an investment in your future, happier self.” In this process, I need to learn to “get comfortable with the uncomfortable” when it comes to dealing with the feelings that come up with big change like this.
So, that’s what I’m doing.
Bear with me as I start this exciting new chapter in my life. I’m looking forward to focusing on my family and having time to dedicate to the things I’m passionate about, and investing in my future, happier self.
I’m looking forward to seeing where this road leads me.

March 19, 2013 at 2:46 pmI left my veterinary career 2 years ago and it was the best thing I could do for myself and my family. I do miss it, and will probably eventually practice again, but I'm loving my time at home and complete focus on family, home and myself =) I'm sure you will feel the same way-enjoy it!!

March 20, 2013 at 2:33 amYou really should read "Magical Journey" by Katrina Kenison. It is the BEST book for learning how to grow with the changes in our life. You would love it, I think. I love her writing and it has brought me so much peace and encouragement through some recent changes in my life. It is just about the most beautiful memoir I have ever read!

March 23, 2013 at 8:57 pmCongratulations Jenny! I left the race about six years ago. I was off for over four and loved it! Now I'm back in it and really do like working again. It was so nice to be able to take that break.
Good luck!
