Breathing New Life Into Your Home

I don’t how it is where you live, but here in Ohio, Mother Nature is having a bit of memory loss and seems to have forgotten that Spring has started.  I think she and Old Man Winter must be having some sort of argument or something, and I’m hoping they will call a truce.  Soon.

So, in the meantime, I’m doing what I can to liven up the inside of my home.  One of the great things about the first year in this new house is that Spring is proving to be like Christmas.  Not only from a cold weather perspective, but also in discovering the hidden gifts that are making an appearance in my yard.

I have been cutting bunches of daffodils and bringing them inside, since they too, have been hanging their heads with all of the cold weather we’ve been getting.

They’re so much happier now.   See, these beauties don’t even notice my dusty buffet…

Speaking of breathing new life, my sofa has gotten a lift as well.

Can you see the difference?  This sofa has had nine lives, I tell you.  Three slipcovers, and I think we’re on our third set of replacement cushions.  It’s like a new piece of furniture!  Best yet, the cushion revival was free.  We were “grandfathered” in to this free replacement cushion program with this sofa, and we have certainly gotten our money’s worth out of this couch.  It’s, um, 12 years old I think.

Not bad for an old girl.  (The sofa, not me)

On a side note – please send some positive thoughts and prayers our way.  We are in St. Louis so my husband can donate stem cells for his twin brother’s bone marrow transplant next month.  Our side of this transaction is easy compared to what his brother will go through.  At the hospital today, I got tears in my eyes seeing a young mother greeted by her family, celebrating of her last chemo treatment.

Let’s hope that all of this will help to breathe new life into my brother-in-law.

Counting my blessings even more today.

I live in Ohio as well so I know your pain, we had a few nice days that gave us a false sense of spring!

All the best to your BIL and husband. Sending you positive thoughts that his health rapidly improves.

I'm impressed with the cushion replacement agreement with your sofa, I'd never heard of such a program! And yes, patiently (or not so patiently) waiting for spring here!! Janell

I will absolutely be praying for your family, your hubby and your BIL, Jenny!

Your couch looks great; I love your throw pillows, too! I'd be happy to even see my Daffodils blooming. All I've got is the green right now. I think they and the Tulips are very confused with this weather. We've had rain, some hail and a little bit of flurries thrown in this morning.

Jenny, we're having another one of those separated at birth moments – I posted about indoor flowers & uncooperative mother nature today too! How fabulous that you have gotten your money's worth out of that sofa – I love your pillows by the way!

Hoping all goes well with your husband and his brother. Thinking of you all.

Hi Jenny, I'll pray for your Brother-in-law and family. On a happier note I love your sofa. What brand is it that will give you replacement cushions 12 years later? You probably don't want to hear this, but I live in San Diego and I played volleyball on the beach in a bathing suit last Friday. I hope you get some sunshine soon!
