Hello! I hope you all enjoyed the first Homearama tour – are you ready for another?  First, here are the details: The Hadleigh Builder: HBS Development Inc. Square Footage: 10,000 sq. ft. Price: $1.4M (sold) This home was built for a family with three young boys.  It sits high on a hill, and has beautiful view of the fall foliage (even on a dreary day). Upon entering the home, the dining room is on the left (with a lovely butler’s pantry just beyond), and beautiful hardwood floors. I love this butler’s pantry – the glass panels, the dark wood and the contrast with the granite.  So pretty. To the right you’ll find a stunning, wide staircase, with a huge window that lets in tons of natural light. The most beautiful detail is when you look up and see this paneled barreled ceiling. Straight ahead is the two-story family room.  It’s a soaring space, but all I could think about was the near-white carpet, and the fact that the family has three young boys.  I suspect they’ll have to keep the ropes up so that the boys don’t walk on the carpet. 😉 Then we made our way into the amazing kitchen. Hello! I hope you’ve come out of your Halloween sugar coma and are ready to kick off a new week.  How is it November already?!  We have a big week ahead of us.  We celebrate our 20th anniversary on Wednesday, and our oldest son turns 16 on Friday.  Talk about craziness! I’m kicking off the week with some Homearama tours for your viewing pleasure.  This is a local Homearama, and a small one.  It was supposed to have three home tours, but one of them wasn’t finished in time, so it was just two tours.  But, they are both really lovely homes that I’m sure you will enjoy! Let’s get started with the first home:  The Grandeur Builder: South Dayton Builders and Remodelers Square Footage: 7,000 sq. ft. Price:  $1.2M (sold) As you can see, it was a rainy, miserable day when we went.  But, that didn’t make the exterior of this home any less lovely.  I’ll keep my commentary to a minimum, but will point out some of the features that I found so warm and inviting in this home. This was an interesting technique.  The wall corners in this home were rounded, and this decorative trim is a […]

Happy Friday! Wrapping up the tours today with three homes to share! The Villa Maribella Price: $1.3M Square Footage: 7,500 sq. ft. Builder: Justin Doyle Homes Website: www.justindoylehomes.com You all know how much I love window boxes – these are stunners! Once inside, this home had a definite darker feel to it in comparison to some of the others.  Stained woodwork, darker color palette, etc… Family room (not a great shot, I know). Powder room –  Master bedroom –  Master bathroom – this tile didn’t do a whole lot for me. The office felt like it was ten years old, and I’m not sure what was going on with that window valance across the bay window.  Didn’t make sense to me. The basement made up for some of the things I didn’t care for upstairs – great media room. And a basketball court.  Oh, the use this space would get if I had it in my home… The kids could play, and I could watch them through the window. 🙂 There were bedrooms down here also, and this one was a big hit with the little girls – a “Frozen” themed room.   This shot better depicts the colors.  My […]

Hello! It’s been fun going through all of the pictures I took on the tour since all of the homes seem to blur together when you’re actually taking the tour.  This next home ranks towards the top of my list for a lot of reasons, but I’ll let you be the judge. The Bella Noelle Price: $1.5M Square Footage: 7,100 sq. ft. Builder: Clayton Douglas Homes, Ltd. Website: www.claytondouglashomes.com This home is another single level home plus a basement, and the exterior is eye catching from the start. Upon entering this home, the office was to the left.  Lots of wood here – a wee bit too much wood for my personal taste, but you couldn’t help but appreciate it. I do love the floors. I did like the door. To the right was the dining room – much more glam than the office.  I love the chandelier in here. From here, we went upstairs –  Three bedrooms up here –    Along with a tv area in the central hallway. And girl’s room, complete with a hot pink ceiling. I loved this bedroom – such a pretty color palette, don’t you think? After we toured the upstairs, we made […]

Hello! I hope you’re enjoying the tours so far.  There were a total of nine homes on the tour, although there were supposed to be ten.  Apparently one of the builders missed the deadline by three weeks.  Can you imagine?  I’m sure there were some heads rolling somewhere on that one.  We could see the home (the exterior) from a distance, and it was impressive – we were told it was 12,000 square feet.  Too massive for my taste, but I still would have liked to take a peek inside. I’m going to have to double up here if I have any hope of wrapping this thing up in a week!   The Bordeaux Price: $1.4M Square Footage: 5,700 sq. ft. Builder: The Robert Lucke Group Website: www.robertluckegroup.com A lot of single level homes with basements in this year’s tour, which I really enjoy. A gorgeous home office as you enter the home.  Neutral, pretty and welcoming.   This stunning piece of artwork really caught my eye.  It appears to be a photo, blown up on a huge canvas.  Gorgeous. The light fixtures throughout this home were really beautiful, and worked well together.  It really goes to show you what […]

Hello! I hope you enjoyed Day One of Homearama Week.  We were definitely dazzled, and continued to be as we made our way through these gorgeous homes. The Asheville Price: $1.45M (furnishings included!) Square Footage: 6,600 sq. ft. Builder: Arthur Rutenberg Homes Website: www.arthurrutenberghomes.com This home was unique in that it’s the only one where the furnishings are included in the sales price.  The exterior is striking with its contrasting stone and stucco. You can see by looking at all of the feet in this picture, that it was jam packed full of people.  But isn’t the floor lovely?  The pattern is gorgeous. To the left is the dining room.   As you move ahead, there is a bar to the left, complete with a snazzy wine storage area (far left).  This house is an entertainer’s dream. The family room is straight ahead.  Gorgeous ceiling, fresh fireplace, and check out the doors that fold open to create an outdoor extension to the home.  Such an amazing feature. A close up of the fireplace. A closer shot of the folding doors (and I love the drapes too). Again with the drapes – you all know I’m a sucker for banded drapes […]

Hello! I’m so very excited to share all of the homes from Homearama this week!  Once again, the tour did not disappoint – so many great ideas and inspiration to be had, and some great new things that I hadn’t seen before, which is always fun. So, let’s get on with it, shall we?  Buckle up, and get ready to be dazzled. The Cheyenne Price: $1.2M Square Footage: 5,700 sq. ft. Builder: Jack H. Wieland Builders  Website: www.wielandbuilders.com The first home we toured had some really gorgeous elements, as well as some amazing functional spaces.  In short, I loved everything about this home!  All of the space was put to good use without feeling too fancy to be livable, if that makes sense. A spacious front porch –  And of course, some beautiful front doors. My apologies in advance for some of these shots.  This year they were not that good at crowd control in some of the houses – just letting droves of people inside all at once, vs. letting smaller groups in and spacing them out a bit more.  Some of the tours got really claustrophobic as a result, and it was hard to fully appreciate the house […]
