Hello friends!
I hope you had a marvelous weekend. Sunday was a total washout here, but it was kind of nice to cozy up on the couch and watch innumerable episodes of my new TV show obsession, “Homeland”.
My oldest son, a freshman, went to homecoming on Saturday night, “with a group”, which was really fun (and much less anxiety-inducing, for me). I still can’t believe he’s old enough to go to homecoming.
The great thing about this event was that one set of parents invited all of the kids to have dinner at their home vs. going out to dinner. So nice, right? Love that idea! And they provided all of the food, despite my efforts to contribute. So, of course, a hostess gift (and a donation) was in order.
I’ll tell you what, after putting together this hostess gift, I think I’m going to be giving potted plants/flowers/bushes from here on out. It’s so easy and so pretty when you pull it all together!
I have always loved the look of a prettied up plant as a gift. I mean, how cute is this wrapped up plant from Precious Sister?
I had some fabric on hand, and picked up a beautiful potted mum to wrap up and take as a gift. It’s actually potted in a cute wooden basket, so you could really even go with a plastic pot for this gift.
I followed the directions on how to wrap it up that were so beautifully laid out on Precious Sister’s blog. Then I tied it up with some twine and added a chalkboard tag.
Easy peasy, right? Now I’m really excited to wrap up some cute little rosemary topiaries or mini pine trees as a Christmas hostess gift!
Can’t end this post without a photo of the homecoming crew:
And my boy (who really should have gotten a haircut before this event)…
Speaking of hostesses – stop on over at Worthing Court, where I was invited by Suzy to share my home tour!
Have a great week! I’m hoping to order fireplace stone today, as the epic fireplace fail is on the upswing! Hooray!

October 7, 2013 at 1:25 pmHow fun for your son to go to Homecoming! I love the whole group thing that is the culture today, less stressful than going with a date at that age and no one gets left out!
Your potted plant all wrapped up is such a nice gift, I love that fabric you used!
