Favorite Things 2020

I’m so excited to be joining in with a great group of bloggers over the next couple of days for this year’s Favorite Things 2020 put together by Melissa at 320 Sycamore.  I always enjoy seeing what other people spot and love, and as you know, I’m always on the lookout for things to share with you.  Pulling it all together for the holidays is even more fun, especially with the kind of year that we’ve had.  My favorite things this year center around humor and self-care – something I’ve certainly relied upon this year, and suspect we will all need in large supply as we head into 2021.  This post contains some affiliate links.

Blue Q Socks

This one continues to be an annual favorite of mine, with new designs every year.  Blue Q socks (and other accessories for that matter), always make me laugh, and humor is one thing that has been a saving grace for this year.  I’ve spotted these socks locally, and they’re great stocking stuffers, or ideal options for a white elephant gift exchange.  These socks really seem to sum up 2020 for me – I’ll Have to Run that by My Sweat Pants”.  Perfect.  And so accurate, right?

They also have oven mitts like this one.

Or cute little zipper pouches like this one.

There are lots to choose from, and some are a little more “R-rated” for language, if you appreciate sarcastic humor (which I do).

Baby Yoda Charging Case Cover

I don’t know about you, but Baby Yoda is a big deal in my house.  My sons watch The Mandalorian, and I’ve gotten roped into it as well – and Baby Yoda is the reason.  So if you are a Baby Yoda fan, or know someone who is, check out this Baby Yoda Charging Case Cover for your Air Pods.  Too stinking cute.

And to prove how obsessed we are about Baby Yoda – these are the cookies that a client of mine made for my oldest son’s birthday (he’s 22 – you’re never too old for Baby Yoda).

Impress Nails – A Manicure in a Pinch

A friend of mine turned me on to these Impress Nails after she came to my annual cookie exchange last year with nails that looked on point.  I complimented her on her pretty manicure, and she proceeded to tell me that she did them in the car, on the way to the party.  They’re basically a press-on gel manicure.  I’ve tried them myself, and they live up to their name – I was impressed.  They’re great if you need your nails to look nice, but you don’t have the time to get a professional manicure (and you don’t have to use the glittery nails if you don’t want to, FYI).

Kitsch Masks

Since my daughter is attending high school in person (praise God), she is in the know about all things mask-related.  She has discovered Kitsch Masks, and loves them.  They have cute patterns, but more importantly, they are super comfortable, breathable and soft.  This is obviously very important when you’re stuck wearing them all day at school.  You have to give these kids credit – they’re really rolling with all of the punches that 2020 is throwing at them.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

I polled my girlfriends for some of their favorite things too (since they’re always good at helping like that), and one of them recommended the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask, saying, “no chapped lips ever!”  Given that I seem to have some sort of addiction to Carmex, I’m going to have to give this stuff a try!

Fenty Gloss Bomb

Another girlfriend of mine recommended this Fenty Gloss Bomb.  I’m always on the lookout for beauty recommendations, since painting cabinets doesn’t lend itself to much in the way of daily glam.  You have to take the opportunity to glam up when you get the chance, so why not add some gloss bomb to your makeup bag?

Playful Placemats

I think people are going to be putting a lot more time and care into their homes this holiday season.  I’m already seeing Christmas lights and decorated Christmas trees, and we even put lights around our back fence this year, which is something we’ve never done.  Christmas lights just make me happy.  In that vein, how about some fun placemats while we’re at it.  I spotted these Hester & Cook wood slice placemats at a local grocery store, and they’re so on trend, without being a hassle or messy.

What Do You Meme?

We’re going to need more than just puzzles to get through this Covid winter.  What Do You Meme is a game that my oldest son (a senior in college) has and loves.  Anything to get kids off of their phones is a good thing in my book.

Athleta Pranayama Wrap

I know I’ve talked about this one before, but it bears repeating, since I think I have about five of them right now.  I love it that much.  These Athleta wraps are super soft, perfect for running around town, going out, or cozying up on the couch watching Netflix.  I wear them daily.  Can’t say enough good things about them.  They wash up beautifully and go the distance.

I hope you’re able to find something in my list that will make you laugh or soothe your soul a bit.  It’s one way of coping with the upcoming holidays that will surely be far from “normal”.

Here are some more bloggers that are sharing their Favorite Things 2020 list for the year as well – Tracie at Cleverly Inspired is next on the list today, so hop on over and see if you find anything that might be a great fit for you or someone you love.

Enjoy!

Jenny
