Friday 5+1

Happy Friday!

Busy week here with the kids winding down with school, and I’m wondering where the school year went!  Gorgeous day today and I’m loving every minute of it.

Now let’s get on with today’s Friday 5+1 (aka 5 thing I love + 1 thing I don’t).

Everything But The House
If you could have a website on speed dial, this would be one on my list.  Everything But The House is an online auction website, that holds auctions primarily in the Ohio/Indiana/Kentucky area (Nashville is coming soon!).  I love it because they have great items that range from jewelry to furniture to cars.  I personally scored a great framed print of Jack Nicklaus for my husband for Christmas last year.  You have the option to preview the items before you buy them, and it’s always fun to check out the treasures they sell.

You can also “follow” an item that you’re interested in, if you’re not quite ready to bid on it.  Suffice to say, I have done my fair share of following.

Like this cool, framed map (that sold for $80 incidentally):

These pine cone lamps also caught my eye (sold for $140 for the pair).

Or this funky fun chair ($200).

Speaking of chairs, look at this lovely lady (sold for $865, a bit rich for me, but I still love it).

But then, this pair of chairs sold for $85!  The could be reupholstered and totally adorable, don’t you think?

I jumped in on the bidding (but didn’t win) on this gorgeous copper topped server that I have always loved from Arhaus.  It sold for $470 – WAY cheaper than you could buy it new!

Cardstar
I know I’m not alone in having a keychain full of rewards cards.

The Cardstar app allows you to scan your rewards cards and store them all on your phone.  Brilliant, right?

And, it’s FREE.  Click here for iPhone and here for Android.

Spring
Now, I’m not talking about the season, but rather, the app.  I enjoy listening to music while I walk the dog or run, and I have a tendency to try to walk to the beat of the music.  This app allows you to do just that.  It will play music (that you like) that is the same cadence as your walking, running, biking, etc…

Again, it’s FREE.  Download here for iPhone (sorry, I don’t see it available for Android!).

Frogg Togg’s Chilly Pad
As we move towards the warm summer weather, I must share one of my favorite summer staples – the Frogg Togg Chilly Pad.  I first found it 2-3 years ago, and was amazed.  It is a towel (kind of like a “shammy” material) that not only holds water, but stays cool.  I’ve used it for hot outdoor workouts and sweaty summer baseball games (for both me, and the kids).  Can’t say enough good things about this product!  And no, I’m not being paid to say it, I just love it.  FYI – You can buy them at Dick’s Sporting Goods if you’re looking to get one in a local store.

Urbane Bronze
I’m working on some cabinet doors for a friend of mine, and we’re going with Urbane Bronze (Sherwin Williams) as the color.  Can I just say “yum”?  I’m loving it!  I may have to dedicate a post just to this color!

This is the image that had me at hello:

The one thing I don’t like right now is change.

This should come as no surprise if you know me, and I guess I’m not alone in that a lot of people don’t embrace change.  My daughter is finishing second grade, and will be moving to a new school next year, and is anxious about it (which in turn makes me anxious).  I know she’ll be fine – she’s really outgoing and makes friends easily.  But, I remember being “the new kid” and how scary that can be.  But, so goes life, right?  Change is the only constant.

Have a beautiful weekend!

Jenny you are full of fabulous tips today! I love this series!
I need to check out both the apps you mentioned, they are right up my alley. I heard about those chill pads and definitely need to invest in one for summer baseball (that starts this weekend for us – no rest for the weary!) Thanks for sharing all your likes. Hope your one "dislike" will be easier than anticipated 🙂

I am a big fan of EBTH. I have bought quite a few things from their auctions. Must check out the Frogg Toggs. Those would be perfect this summer. I love this series of yours.

You always have the best tips! I always stalked EBTH when we lived in Cincinnati but everything always sold at such high prices so I never bought a thing! Glad that you've had better luck!
