Friday 5+1 (5 Things I Love + 1 Thing I Don’t) – 10.12.18

After nearly two weeks of humid, summer-like temperatures, I think fall is finally here to stay.  I’m loving the cool down so far, but am in absolutely no rush to head into winter.  I wrapped up a kitchen this week and am super excited to share it with you since it’s not your traditional white.  I love it, and it turned out beautifully.  Look for it next week. 🙂  In the meantime, let’s get on with this week’s Friday 5+1!

Blue Q Oven Mitts

I have shared (on more than one occasion) my love of the hysterical Blue Q socks, but did you know that they have oven mitts?  Oh yes, yes they do.  A couple of samples…  This one has been on point for me lately.

Or if you’re feeling salty there’s this oven mitt.

And when you’ve just had enough of dealing with people, there’s this oven mitt:

A fun gift for any girlfriend – whether they cook or not.  After all, we all use oven mitts, right?  You can’t pull the pizza out of the oven with your bare hands.

Agate Salad Servers

For the person who has everything, or just because you appreciate pretty things, these agate salad servers are so pretty!  Perfect for serving up delicious dishes for the holidays or when hosting casual occasions with friends.  What a conversation piece!

Funny Flour Sack Towels

I was at my local Fleurish Home store recently, and spotted this flour sack towel that made me giggle because I know so many of us can relate.  They have a huge selection of towels, online and in their stores – one for everyone.

Subtle Wallpaper

While I haven’t made the leap to add wallpaper to my own home yet (PTSD from removing so much of it), I’m loving the Beacon House Tulip Wallpaper that the homeowner at the house I’m working on, added to her dining room.  It’s subtle and pretty without being overwhelming, and it breaks up the flow of the rooms in the house without being choppy.  A tall order for wallpaper, right?  (Ignore the pink that’s showing up in this photo – it doesn’t look like that in real life, or even on my phone – weird.)

Here it is in a gorgeous navy blue:

Have you taken the plunge back into wallpaper, or are you still a little gun shy like me?

JacksonBuilt Custom Homes

Every now and again I stumble upon a custom home builder that just stops me in my tracks.  JacksonBuilt Custom Homes is one of those builders.  For a hot minute, they leave me wanting to sell my home and start from scratch.  Nothing like new house smell to get you thinking, right?

Although with so many beautiful options, I don’t know if I could make any design decisions.  Hello navy blue island.

My +1 for the week – Phone Books

Would you believe that phone books are still dropped in our driveway on an annual basis?  I know we have a “Do Not Call” list (which is a joke), but where is the “No Phonebook List”?  In a world where disposable bags and plastic straws are becoming obsolete, how is it that the

I know, what is the deal with the phone books?!!! As soon as we get them, I don’t even bring them in the house. They just go directly to the recycling bin in the garage…what a waste! LOVE those oven mitts. I can think of a few people who would love them as gifts. Enjoy your weekend!

Those oven mitts are on point! Great idea for Christmas stocking stuffers so thank you for posting! I have to say even with Yelp, Angie’s List and ALL the other online referral sites; I find myself, after a recent move and needing home repairs, that a phone book is ideal for sourcing names I can check against BBB, A’sL, Yelp, et al…otherwise I find different recommendations each time I search the sites or ask neighbors. Whew, that was a mouthful! I love your Fri+1 posts and often find them useful.
