Friday 5+1 (5 Things I Love + 1 Thing I Don’t) – 2.28.20

We’re finally getting a taste of winter here, and I don’t like it.  We’ve been a bit spoiled with a mild (albeit rainy) winter, but dang, I’m not used to such cold temps!  Lucky for us, we’re supposed to be in the 50’s by Sunday.  Whew.  I have some fun things to share with you this week in my Friday 5+1 though.  Let’s get started!  This post contains some affiliate links.

Think Thin Keto Bars

I have been working to clean up my eating (although I’m not following the Keto diet), and overall, I’m trying to eat more whole foods.  That said, sometimes I just get busy and need to grab something on the fly.  These Keto bars in chocolate peanut butter pie are the best protein bars I’ve ever had.  To the point that when I find them in the grocery store, I snatch up a whole bunch of them.  No weird taste to them or anything.  Just delicious if you’re wanting something sweet.  I ran out of them, and finally was able to get them on Amazon (even they were out of them for awhile!).

The Last Lecture

Awhile back, you might remember The Last Lecture video that went viral – a professor in his mid-40’s diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, spoke about his life and lessons that he wanted to leave for his children.  These lessons are ones that anyone can take to heart and think about applying in their lives.  Well, there is a book called The Last Lecture, and I listened to it this week.  It is a wider look at his viral video, and equally compelling.  A quick read, but a good one.

Paint Touch-Up Pens

I spotted these paint touch-up pens when I was ordering some supplies this week, and I bought them to give touch-up paint to my customers.  I’m hoping they live up to the hype, because I am intrigued that they claim to keep the paint fresh, which is a challenge when you just leave the leftover paint.  These look easy and convenient, so I’m pretty excited about them.

Night Scout Rechargeable LED Beanie

I share this because I can’t tell you how many times I’m driving along, and all of a sudden there is someone right there on the road, walking their dog, in dark clothes with no reflective gear at all.  It’s just not safe.  Enter the Night Scout Rechargeable LED Beanie.  The light is built-in to the hat and you can recharge it.  Really, the options are endless with this thing!  You could wear this while working on your car, working on plumbing in a dark place, installing a light – you name it!  I might need to get one for myself for my painting…

Hypervolt Massage Gun

So, between working out, painting, and getting older, I have developed some aches and pains that are aggravated with repetitive movements.  Specifically, my elbow and forearm have a tendency to ache after prolonged use.  I’ve had massages, which have helped, but I don’t always have the time to do that as much as I’d like.  I’ve been working out with a trainer, and she has been kicking my butt gave me this Hypervolt Massage Gun to try out in an effort to ease my aches and pains.  This thing is a miracle worker.  I have used it a few times, and there are days that I’ve come home after painting all day where my arm literally aches.  I use this gun, and it works out the pain.  Don’t ask me how, but it does.  So if you have issues like this, consider one of these massage guns.  They’re worth the investment.

My +1 for the week…

Now, I have to qualify this +1 because it’s kind of a mixed one.  My husband and I went out with one of my friends and her husband for her 50th birthday.  First of all, we had a blast.  Suffice to say we acted like she was turning 21, not 50.  That’s where the +1 comes in.  I think I lost two days of my life recovering from this celebration.  I just don’t do that kind of celebrating very often, you know?  But it was totally worth it.  At least in looking at my photos from that night, it sure looks like it was amazing…

We started out like this…

But by the end of the night, it was looking like this…

I will say I didn’t feel bad after this night of fun, but I was exhausted.  Again – totally worth it.  Even if I lost two days of my life recovering from it. 🙂

Have a great weekend!

Jenny

I enjoy your blog very much! However, I keep getting a “dangerous web page” message in giant letters each time I try to view it…. I have to allow Norton anti-virus to allow me to continue to your site. Just wondering if anyone else is having this issue, or if you are aware.

Thanks for telling me this – I haven’t had an issue, and haven’t heard of any other issues, but I’ll have my web guys look at it!

Jenny, please tell me if it’s possible to DIY my 1990s brass pantry door hardware to an updated finish and color. Thanks so much. Love your blog!
