Hello!
How is it the end of September already? This month just went by in a flash, and you know what happens when you hit October – the holiday rush begins. Well, for us, the last few months of the year include two birthdays, our anniversary, along with all of the regular holiday hubbub. But, it’s a gorgeous time of year, and the fall temperatures have finally arrived, so life is good. My son said today that he wished that the fall colors lasted all winter, and that everything just went back to green in the spring. I must concur – fall in the midwest is gorgeous, and I consider it a reward for living in Ohio, if that makes sense. We do have winter, you know. Fall is the least Mother Nature could do for us. 😉 Let’s get on with this week’s Friday 5+1, shall we?
Purses with Built-In Chargers
I love all sorts of products from the Macbeth Collection, but this one really caught my eye. How about a purse with a built-in phone charger? Awwww, yeah! It’s one of those, “Why didn’t I think of that?” kind of products. And they’re stylish too.
Who knew, right?
Neighborhood Details
My son had baseball practice the other night, so I wandered around a local neighborhood, since the weather was nice. I couldn’t help but notice these gorgeous flowers that they had hanging from some of their street signs and some that were purely decorative. I think this goes back to my obsession with window boxes, I just love these sorts of touches.
I mean, hello? Gorgeous, right? How do they get them to grow so beautifully? I’m guessing water plays a role here… 😉
Magnolia Home – Rugs + A Magazine
Chip and Joanna Gaines just seem to be growing by leaps and bounds, and I had to take a moment to share their new line of rugs, along with their new magazine that is coming soon.
My puppy has taken to chewing up my rugs, so I’m in rug-stalking mode. Love this pretty one – love the colors and the print:
Book Review – When I’m Gone
I recently finished When I’m Gone via Audible in the matter of a week, (which I love, even if my parents don’t consider it actual “reading”). I say that I’m “listening with my ears,” right? Here is a brief description of the book from Amazon –
Dear Luke,
First let me say—I love you…I didn’t want to leave you…
Luke Richardson has returned home after burying Natalie, his beloved wife of sixteen years, ready to face the hard job of raising their three children alone. But there’s something he’s not prepared for—a blue envelope with his name scrawled across the front in Natalie’s handwriting, waiting for him on the floor of their suburban Michigan home.
Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew
I didn’t start drinking coffee until I was well into my 30’s (and I blame my husband for getting me started), but have you tried Starbucks Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew? Delicious. And a bit of a spendy habit to become a regular thing. So, I’m trying to control myself.
My +1 for the week…
This pretty much sums it up – the struggle is real.
Have a glorious fall weekend!
Jenny

September 30, 2016 at 10:09 amFinally cooled off here too! Those hanging flower baskets are gorgeous. Flowers really struggle here due to the summer heat. That purse is genius. Need to put that book on my list, thanks for sharing.

September 30, 2016 at 9:54 pmChip and Joanna are amazing. They deserve all the success they are working so hard to earn! I wish my husband was a tenth as handy as Chip Gaines. that. Would. Be, Awesome.
Also loving this weather, and ironically I painted my front door green. Just because green is such a fan color, right? Oh well. I’m hoping to make a fall wreath with my daughter soon and that will help autumnify it 🙂

October 1, 2016 at 8:08 amHave you ever checked out Maria Killam’s blog – Colour Me Happy? I think you would love it. She also started doing color workshops in the US this past year. A lot of her work focuses on choosing the right neutrals or whites based on undertones and clean vs dirty. Every time I see one of your kitchens I think how much you would probably love her work. Also, one of her tips for great pictures is to always take the photos without the lights on using natural light to best represent the color.
I’ve been following her blog for about 8 years and I took a workshop with her last spring and would be happy to share my thoughts if you have any questions.

October 1, 2016 at 4:48 pmWhat an idyllic neighborhood you live in! Such a pity the rest of America can’t live in such a lovely place! Perhaps if we all did, we’d live to become better people and citizens of the United States!

October 1, 2016 at 5:00 pmThe pretty hanging baskets weren’t in my neighborhood, but rather, in one that I walked around while waiting for my son to finish baseball practice. But I certainly wish I had those touches in my neighborhood – flowers make me happy.
