Friday 5+1 (5 Things I Love + 1 Thing I Don’t) – 8.26.16

Hello!

I’m not quite sure where the week has gone, but it took the lovely burst of fall-like temperatures away with it.  We’re back to thick, humid air and temperatures that feel like the mid to upper 90’s.  I will definitely be ready for fall this year (and I have the pumpkin spice creamer in my fridge to prove it).

Let’s get on with this week’s Friday 5+1.  This post contains some affiliate links.

Custom Pieces in Boutique Shops

If you follow me on Instagram, you saw that I posted a photo of a beautifully styled furniture piece in a local boutique.  I don’t get to these shops often, but I always love to see what they come up with in terms of trends and styles in both furniture and accessories.

This shop always has custom furniture pieces, and they had all sorts to choose from when I visited.

And then there are the seasonally inspired accessories – this simple display at my local Fleurish Home shop caught my eye right away.

And this table display – so sharp and I love the contrast with the mix of graphic patterns.IMG_2914

Glazing Tool

I saw a video of this glazing tool in action, and it was used to do a pinstripe glaze on cabinets.  It was fantastic, and it looked pretty easy to use too, which is key.  I’m sure it takes practice, but something to consider if you ever want to do some serious glazing.

Fall Prints from Lily and Val

I love all of the great prints, cards and products that Lily and Val come up with, and their fall prints caught my eye as well.  Look at how cute they are!  I can’t wait to see what they have in store for Christmas.

3M Platinum Tape

I know I mentioned this 3M Platinum tape before, but I had the opportunity to use it, and it lives up to its name!  What I love most about it is how you can use it for curved surfaces – it stretches and works so that you can contour it along rounded edges.  Like I did on this fancy pantry door with a cute little portal window.

It sure turned out nice…

Egg Timers

I know this it completely random (as this list can sometimes be), but I had to share it, because my egg timer went missing a few weeks ago, and I was frustrated because I completely rely on it for making hard boiled eggs!  Rest assured, it showed up (in the little pullout thingy by my sink, that hides sponges and sink stoppers).  I blame children.

My +1 for the week – cell phone data overages.  It doesn’t happen often, and when it does, it’s usually if we’re on vacation or something like that.  But it’s really annoying, no matter when it happens.

I swear, cell phone data is one of those elusive things that is being tracked by the carriers, but I don’t fully trust it.  Especially when we get those warning texts that tell us that we’re approaching our max data usage.  But yet, the kids have been in school for weeks, and I’m on wifi most of the time (and don’t stream much data), and my husband is at work.

I think there are Gremlins in my data plan.  And if I call to ask about it, how can I dispute their “facts”?

I just read that AT&T is doing away with charging for going over your data limit.  Instead, they just slow your data down to the speed of molasses.  When you’re on a family plan, that stinks – I shouldn’t be penalized when I hardly use any data!  We’re working on managing data better, but it seems like it spikes out of nowhere sometimes.

Sorry.  Vent over. 🙂

Have a great weekend!

Jenny

Data overages are the worst! We have the XL plan and always run out with at least a week left…

We’ve had issues with our wifi going in and out in certain parts of the house, and as a result we’ve had data spikes, which just makes it even more aggravating!
