Hello friends!
Remember back in January, where I talked about my “word of the year”? Do you remember what that word was? I’ll refresh your memory – it was grow. Part of my intent behind choosing that particular word, is the fact that I’m not a fan of change. At all. I like things in my little comfort zone, and pushing outside of that means growing. Doing things that make me anxious, afraid, uncomfortable, etc… Sometimes those feelings are just a natural consequence of trying something new. Consequences of growing.
So, where am I moving? Here it is! She’s a beauty, isn’t she?
I’ve been looking for a new space to work – out of my basement – that will give me more room, and allow me to work, and also have the ability to leave my work at work, if that makes sense. Working out of my house, I find that I do a lot on the weekends, and even some evenings. My hope is that having a dedicated space will make me more productive/efficient with my time. Let’s take a peek inside…
I know it’s not much to look at, but I can’t tell you how excited I am to have this dedicated work space. The garage door opens up and lets in a ton of light, which was just glorious today, as the weather was perfect (before the schizophrenic Ohio weather kicked back in anyway).
Here’s a view from the other side of the shop.
I also have a little office area up front. I don’t know how much I’ll use this space as an office, but I can tell you that the flesh colored walls are going to have to go. I’m thinking I can use some of this area for staging furniture (as well as the painted wall in the warehouse). But who knows, maybe I’ll set it up and make good use of it for office work.
I even had a friend deliver the bamboo vanity I’m going to paint for her powder room makeover. Excited to give this beauty a high gloss finish!
The timing of all of this is really interesting, as it’s been almost exactly four years to the day that I quit my corporate job to do my own thing. I never could have imagined being where I am now, and doing what I’m doing. I love what I do. All of it – painting, blogging, creating. Do things get crazy and frustrating sometimes? Yes. But it has been a night and day difference from my previous work life, and I can’t imagine doing anything else. Stepping out of that comfort zone worked out, so I’m hoping this change will as well.
Thanks for all of your support and for following me along this journey. I’m exhausted, but excited to see what lies ahead.
Jenny
