It looked HUGE in the store. HUGE, I tell you. But I have to say, when I first saw it in the catalog, I was a smitten kitten…
Isn’t it dreamy? Don’t you just want to curl up on it and snuggle?
But, I was/am a skeptic. Will it fit? Will it be too big? Will I like it? Can the space handle it? Where will we put the Christmas tree? I mean, it’s way bigger than our current sofa. Like, ginormous.
It makes me nervous, but a wee bit excited, I have to admit. If we got a sectional in this room, that means I’d have the beginnings of a color scheme and paint colors! But that assumes I can decide on a color scheme. Oh, the pressure!
We also looked at these fabulous chairs while we were there. They would be a nice addition to my dining room that I’ve also been agonizing about lately. It’s so easy to get distracted from your original purpose when you’re in there!
So, since my husband is in a “buying mood”, I should get to thinking and make up my mind, right? That’s where we’re different – if he sees something he likes, he buys it. I tend to mull, dwell, think, browse, research – and then decide. After all, this is a big purchase, and I want to be happy with my choice!
One thing I do love about this sectional is that it’s slipcovered. Alleluia! That does take some of the pressure off, since I live by slipcovers with three kids and a big, black (shedding), sweet rescue dog named Martin.
If I were truly crafty, I would come up with a way to recycle the shedding dog hair and make a little girl hair piece for Kate, with her recently cutting her hair and all… 😉
What do you think? This would be our first sectional. I’m thinking a nice solid with fun pillows for interest, perhaps. Not white (see aforementioned note about kids/dog), and the fact that although I love slipcovers, I’m not necessarily a diehard at washing them every time there is a smidge of dirt on them… Just sayin’.

March 2, 2011 at 2:12 pmOh, good luck! Taping furniture out is so helpful! I'm finishing up one of my last (for the time being?) design projects with clients and taping helped them see what they really wanted in their family room…and what they didn't! Janell

March 2, 2011 at 2:38 pmJenny that huge sectional looks perfect for your large room! I love that it has a chaise attached to it – my sister in law has a sectional just like that and after a big meal everyone cozies up on the couch – it's wonderful. That room and windows are gorgeous by the way!

March 7, 2011 at 2:15 amI think your space can definitely handle it and your room may actually NEED a piece that big to ground the room a bit. LOVE Arhaus. I get distracted in there too!
