First off, I did NOT forget that our weekly updates are due on Thursday. My computer needed a minor exorcism, which is why I’m posting on Friday. My apologies. That said, I don’t have any exciting room clean out photos to share yet, and it still looks like it did last week, a Hoarder’s Paradise. However, I did start shopping around for furniture this week, and I’ve also been working on this:
Let’s get on with the subject at hand. I was hoping to find some great steals and deals at Restoration Hardware Outlet like I did for the last One Room Challenge. This is the dealio…
Pretty campaign-style furniture…
But then there is damage like this:
And a price tag like this:
$794 plus an extra 30% off, is still way too spendy for a piece of furniture that I’m going to have to repair and repaint. Considering I got this piece from Ballard Designs for about $50 (which I didn’t mind repairing, and was planning on repainting).
Then I stumbled upon this craziness –
This is where I think Restoration Hardware has completely lost touch with what most normal people are looking for when it comes to furniture. I’m sorry, that’s just plain ugly.
And then there’s this – my daughter was with me because I forced her to look at furniture on her spring break, and she compared this to the Despicable Me wardrobe/coffin that had spikes on the inside. (Her observation, not mine).
I did see some cool chairs at Restoration Hardware Outlet, though. This gorgeous desk chair (with the split in the leather on the back).
But with a price tag of over $2000?!? Yes, there is a 30% discount, but there is a split in the leather.
And this cool chair caught my eye as well. But it was still pricey, at $1500 (with the RH Outlet discount). So, I’ll wait it out. Besides, my kids would inevitably get a hold of this beauty and ruin it with buffalo wing sauce or Cheetos, or something equally stain-filled, so why bother?
I did love the pillow covers that they had, even if they were for the outdoors and made of Sunbrella fabric. That could be a bonus for me, given the buffalo wing sauce and Cheetos tendencies my kids have. Or I could add a lock to this space…
But, no trundle beds of any sort! I’m going to have to hit the pavement (or the internet) for that one, I suppose.
Again, my apologies for the delay on this post. I’m fairly certain my Mac got goofed up by my own doing, I just don’t know what I did. All’s well that ends well, right?
I’m wrapping up the giant kitchen tomorrow, which means I’ll have more time to dedicate to clearing out my office! Did I mention we’re having a Derby Party on May 5th? All the more motivation to have this room DONE!! Just in time for my college son to come home from school and take over the basement… I say no.
Cheers to a great weekend!

April 13, 2018 at 5:23 pmI live in Cleveland and drove all the way down to the RH outlet thinking I was really going to score and ready to spend some $$$. ! But what a disappointment – the prices are outrageous – nothing like outlet prices at all !
I’m amazed that they are still open – not a bargain to be found. It was a long drive and an overnight for serious disappointment….

April 14, 2018 at 7:11 amIt’s definitely hit and miss. For the last One Room Challenge, I scored some AMAZING deals on lighting and some upholstered chairs for my dining room table. But in some instances, I have to agree – still too pricey. But you have to keep going back and looking.

April 16, 2018 at 6:46 pmI have been to 2 RH outlet stores and haven’t found anything. A lot of the stuff was dirty or damaged and like you said, STILL expensive! I am sure you will find the right pieces. I have been shopping like crazy trying to work on my room and now I have hit the overthinking stage. Ugh. Have a good week!

April 19, 2018 at 2:11 pmI always think the prices at my RH outlet for imperfect stuff is insane. Like a huge crack down the middle of a dining table, but it’s still $2000? What?? I’m sure you’ll find the perfect pieces for your office!

April 26, 2018 at 3:08 pmI am utterly unimpressed by the RH outlet. Prices are way too steep and everything looks gray and depressing. My money would be on HomeGoods or even AtHome.
