Weekend 5+1 (5 Things I Love + 1 Thing I Don’t) – 6.29.25

It’s been a hot minute, hasn’t it?  Summer is going to be a blur, and I’m trying to soak it all in while I can. My oldest son is getting married in early September, any my younger son got engaged this month! A lot of great things happening, and I feel so lucky to be the mother-in-law of two amazing women. Cabinet work has picked up as well, so I’ve been keeping busy.  But let’s get to some fun stuff. Since I haven’t shared in awhile, I have some fun things to share in this 5+1!  But first, how cute is this proposal picture?  She was so surprised, which is a hard feat to pull off!

Your Home will Smell Amazing

When we were in Scottsdale this past spring, I went to an open house (because I want to live there – I have fallen in love with Arizona). When I walked in, my first comment was about how amazing the house smelled.  Not in an overwhelming or intrusive way, but in a light, fresh way.  Like what you smell in a nice hotel.  I have never been so quickly influenced into buying a scent diffuser, and I have this thing running regularly.  My husband is sensitive to scents, and it doesn’t even bother him, which says something.  Full disclosure – I now have two diffusers, one from Aroma 360 for upstairs one for the basement.  I might let my daughter take the one in the basement when she goes back to school, because she loves it too.  My favorite scents are from Aroma 360 – their My Way scent (this is the scent that was in the house I toured) and their Escapade scent.  Both are fresh and lovely.

Portable Power Washer

Our home served as the venue for my further daughter-in-law’s bridal shower, so you know what that means.  Must get the house looking ship shape.  We did an outdoor shower, which means that some deep cleaning work needed to be done.  Enter this amazing portable power washer.  I cleaned everything I could get my hands on – the deck, outdoor furniture, railings, paver patio, you name it.  I love that it’s portable and easy to move around, and most importantly, it got the job DONE.

Supergoop Sunscreen

If you’re on the lookout for a daily sunscreen that doesn’t feel like sunscreen, can I suggest Supergoop?  I recently started using it, and it’s the best facial sunscreen I’ve ever used, period.  It is light, doesn’t smell like sunscreen, and almost feels like primer when I put it on my face.  If I could, I’d give it three thumbs up.

Look on the Bright Side

The one benefit of working more is that I can dive into some good audiobooks and get through them quickly!  I recently read Look on the Bright Side by Kristin Higgins, and absolutely loved it.  So much so, that I’m on the third of her books now.  If you like great stories, with well developed characters that draw you in, she’s for you.  This was the first of hers that I read, and I loved it.  Isn’t it great when you find a new author and go down a rabbit hole of awesome books?

Outrageous on Prime

If you’re looking for a new show to watch, check out Outrageous on Amazon.  It takes place in the 1930’s and profiles a family of six sisters and their lives as they go in many different directions.  Really captivating and well done.  It does require a Britbox subscription, but I can’t tell you how many shows we’ve watched on Britbox (All Creatures Great and Small is worth the cost of admission right there) – they do it up right.

My +1 for this week – The Early Parade People

We have a local parade every 4th of July – one that I was in when I was in drill team in high school.  Probably the same version of the same parade every year.  Well, some people are so crazy about this parade that they put out their chairs nearly two weeks in advance of the parade.  I spotted some on June 23rd! Who knows when they put them out.  It just seems a little … obsessive, yes?  For a parade?!  It’s not like it’s the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade or anything like that, for crying out loud.

Do you have any parade obsessed people in your area?  Or is it an Ohio thing?

Have an amazing 4th of July and be safe out there!  As always, thanks for supporting my tiny slice of the internet.  I fear AI is going to make me extinct. 🙁
