Since my mind has been overflowing with ideas for the new year, I thought that doing a blog brain dump might be helpful. I’m thinking it will also help with my sleeping, because I couldn’t fall asleep last night to save my life. Better still, the hubby is on board with some of these projects as well, which is always a good thing.
The Stairs
I have been pinning away yummy stairway images as I plot and plan my approach to our ever-icky-carpet-covered stairs.
Don’t even get me started on that amazing little office nook. As if the stairs weren’t enough to get me going!
All of these ideas are going to be such great alternatives to this. (And this is when the stairs were relatively clean.)
Flooring
We’ve been in our new home a little more than a year now, and I’m about done with the barely beige carpet that encompasses not only the stairs, but much of our house. So, one thing I am pining for (pining, and pinning), is hardwood floors in our great room and the hallway leading to the kids’ rooms.
Floors like this…
And this..

Great Room Fireplace
And then there is the fireplace in our great room. I blogged about ideas for the fireplace last year, but I have new ideas brewing in my brain. As it stands now, it feels kind of cold with all of the tile, and I would love a wood mantel…
So, here is the direction I’m going…
Again, at this point, the fireplace brainstorming is just that – brainstorming. Looking for ideas that I can potentially do myself. Still refining the idea into something that I am hoping will be a reality. Can you see where I’m going with this? The hubby is on board, so I’m confident we can come up with something between the two of us.
Jack & Jill Bathroom
I also have a Jack & Jill bathroom that I am thinking about. At this point, all I’ve done is my DIY shower curtain, but the walls are showing some wear from my child-zillas, so it needs paint at the VERY least. I have already started patching holes in the wall, and I have decided on a paint color. Sea Salt by Sherwin Williams.
Some photos of this color in action…
I just love Andrea’s home at Oak Ridge Revival – great color palette all around!
And then there is the dining room in progress. Lots to do, and this is just the beginning!

January 4, 2012 at 2:00 pmAll great projects-that will keep you busy! I'm needing to address our stairway downstairs too. We already have hardwood, but the walls are so expansive and boring-a little trim work would do wonders!

January 4, 2012 at 4:47 pmDo you mean Sea Salt by Sherwin Williams? Benjamin Moore does have a Sea Salt, but it's beige-y. Life in Grace's girls bedroom (the image you used) is Sherwin William's Sea Salt… she had a typo on that 30 days page. She fixed/commented on it on a comment. Might want to double check with her which one you want! One is barely blue, the other is beige! 🙂

i also did my brain dump today of everything we would like to accomplish in 2012! I know we won't necessarily complete it all due to time and cost, but we would like to do most of it! 🙂

January 5, 2012 at 12:06 amI love the second hardwood floor pictures. It is dark and rich but the distressing makes them way more livable. The staircase would be the first project on my list because it seems like the most manageable and lower cost.
