I love all of the linky parties that take place during the holidays and enjoy seeing the wonderfully festive ideas that are out there. I’m participating in the Christmas Mantel Link Parties over at My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia (December 6th), Southern Hospitality and Home Stories A to Z (December 7th).
I’m still getting acclimated to decorating our home for the holidays, as last year we had just moved into it in mid-November, so it was a mad rush trying to throw things together while simultaneously unpacking boxes. This year isn’t quite as crazy (or at least we’re back to our more “normal” state of crazy), so I have been able to take my time a bit more.
Our fireplace is large and challenging to maneuver, but I’m happy with how it turned out this year. I still have it on my renovation list, as I would love a stone fireplace with a traditional mantel, but I’m not complaining.
The garland and wreath are from Ballard Outlet, and the lanterns were a steal from IKEA. I was thinking that the red lanterns would have been really festive and fun too, but I know I’ll be able to use the black ones year-round.
The stocking at the center of the wreath is from Southern Living, and I shopped the house for the mirror. Now that I stop and look at these pictures, I think I should lower my wreath to the center a bit more. 😉 The owl was my awesome Goodwill find that I spray painted and gussied up – he’s perfect for some extra wintry goodness.
Is your mantel decked out for the holidays? Make sure you join the fun!
