Friday 5+1 (5 Things I Love + 1 Thing I Don’t) – 10.14.16

Hello!

I hope you’ve had a great week and are ready for the weekend.  Fall is in full swing here, and the trees are absolutely gorgeous.  I swear, I could just drive around for hours looking at them.  If only it lasted a bit longer…  It’s time for this week’s edition of the Friday 5+1!  Let’s get to it, shall we?  This post contains some affiliate links.

Top 10 Word of Mouth Beauty Products

While I’m no make-up guru, I trust those who are, and this article shares the Internet’s Top 10 Word of Mouth Beauty Products.  Worth a read, and usually these types of lists are pretty accurate, in my experience.

Spy Secrets That Can Save Your Life

I heard about Spy Secrets That Can Save Your Life while listening to the radio, and even just hearing about it, I was intrigued.  It’s written by a former CIA officer, and he imparts his expertise in ways that everyday people can incorporate into their lives in order to stay safe, be aware and avoid dangerous situations altogether.  I’ve always been intrigued by CIA stories (if you’ve never watched “Homeland”, please add it to your “must watch” list), so maybe this is part of my desire to have mad CIA skills.  I’m thinking it would make a great Christmas gift – maybe for my senior who is going off to college next year.

Galvanized Holiday Decor

I spotted these adorable galvanized buckets and tubs at the Country Living Fair last month, and am wish I had bought one.  How stinking cute are they?  And something that would be a challenging DIY at that.  These are from the Homestead Collection – you can see their Facebook page here.

Yeti

I don’t have a Yeti (yet), but I want one.  I’m thinking maybe I can get one in order to have it for my next beach vacation, because cold drinks on the beach are a must, don’t you think?  They’re pricey, but a friend of mine told me that she had a drink with ice in hers, and had it in a hot car for hours, and the ice didn’t melt!  And sand doesn’t stick to it either – very important.

Tribute to Entrepreneurs

My husband shared this video with me, and as an entrepreneur myself, I really loved it.  It’s inspiring, and really gave me chills.  If you’re not an entrepreneur, I think it will make you want to become one.

My +1 for the week – Smart Cars

No offense to anyone who drives them, but ever since my parents’ car accident, these cars make me even more nervous than usual.  They look like swanky golf carts, and I can’t help but think that if a semi hit one, the semi driver wouldn’t even realize it.

This is what I think of when I see a smart car.

Have a fantastic weekend!

Walmart carries a Yeti knock off called Ozark Trail for around $10. I have seen reviews where they perform as well or better than the Yeti. I have lots of friends who raved about them while camping this simmer.

That’s what I was going to say. I just bought them from Walmart.com for our family vacation in December.

I really want to read that Beauty article of top 10 but I have to subscribe to WSJ – the other suggested links don’t work either. Try the Corkcicle or Ozark Tumbler… Google them. Cheaper & ice stays longer. Also my Yeti cup annoys me because the lid doesn’t have a slide/seal & my water spills out every morning when I reach in my car to get my bags for work. I am in love with my SWELL Bottle for water now.

I really wanted to read the beauty products article but it looks like you have to have a WSJ subscription.

Is anyone else able to access the Internet’s Top 10 Word of Mouth Beauty products? Seems to only be available from the Wall Street Journal but I don’t want a subscription to read one article!

Well shoot! I’m sorry about that! I didn’t realize that would happen, let me see what I can do to share it.

Check out the RTIC brand instead of Yeti. They are virtually identical and MUCH cheaper. We got an RTIC cooler and it kept the ice whole for TWO DAYS. https://www.rticcoolers.com/

I will do that! $40 for a tumbler is a wee bit pricey for my taste, but I love the idea!

I was going to buy a yeti but found a knock off at Walmart and it’s great! Ice lasts all day in a hot car! Plus it’s only 9.97!! After I bought mine they came out with colored versions! I believe you can find them in the camping section!
