Friday 5+1 (5 Things I Love + 1 Thing I Don’t)

Happy Friday!

It’s our last week off before school kicks into high gear next week, and I’m just not quite ready for summer to end.  It’s been nice having some lazy summer days without crazy schedules, and with so much of the summer being rainy around here, I feel like we didn’t get enough heat and sunshine.  Of course, once school starts up, the temps are supposed to rise.

Oh well, out of my control, right?  Let’s get on to this week’s Friday 5+1 (5 Things I Love + 1 Thing I Don’t).

Summer Parties
We had our big fish fry party last weekend, and the weather was absolutely perfect.  It’s the second year we’ve done it, and it was a great time.  Of course, I ended up getting busy talking with everyone, so I didn’t take very many pictures as a result.

I dressed up the tables on the cheap, using mason jars with sand and tealights, hydrangeas from the yard and these pretty placemats that were a steal from Bath & Body Works.  I’m talking 75% off.  Like $3.00 for a pack of 24.

They’re totally casual, which is just the vibe I was looking for.

Lindsay Letters
I think I discovered Lindsay Letters last year – she is so talented, and has such beautiful items to offer.  I have always admired people with artistic talent (because I’m so not artistically talented), and Lindsay has so many beautiful items to choose from, I dare you to try and find a favorite!

From pretty printables that you can download immediately if you’re the instant gratification type, like me:

See what I mean?  So talented!

Beddy’s (Bed*Ease)
I came across Beddy’s via Instagram of all places, and it’s one of those products that has you smacking yourself in the head, saying, “Why didn’t I think of that?”  What is a Beddy’s Bedset?  As it says on their website, “it’s a once piece unit for your bed.  It simplifies your bedding by eliminating your flat sheet, fitted sheet, cuddle blanket and your quilt.”  It zips up, people.  No more excuses for not making your bed.

I love it for so many reasons!  Look at this neatly tailored bunk bed?  How often does that happen?

It’s equally beautiful in a master bedroom:

I would love this for a trundle bed (if I ever find a trundle bed I like for my daughter’s room).  So tailored and crisp looking, and easy to put back together after sleeping in it all night.

Farmer’s Markets
One of the things I look forward to each summer is the local farmer’s markets.  I stopped by one of my favorites yesterday, picking up tomatoes, fresh flowers and zucchini bread (made by the Amish).  It just doesn’t get any better than that.

Target for the Home
It’s no secret that I love Target.  I took my daughter school supply shopping the other day, and had a chance to poke around through some of the loveliness they have for the home.  I’m just never disappointed.

These monogrammed pillow covers are fantastic!  I love anything with a monogram, and the flip side of these beauties is a quatrefoil pattern in a coordinating color.

Are you gearing up for fall already?  How about a fall banner?

How about some owl salt and pepper shakers?

With a coordinating cookie jar, perhaps?  Oh how I love that hippo!

My +1 for the week would have to go to the deer who keep clipping off the hydrangeas from my newly planted bushes!  And I know it’s a deer, because I spotted it in the front yard earlier this week.  It’s like hydrangea vandalism – they’re not even eating the flowers, just biting the stems and spitting them out.  Such a senseless crime.

Have a great weekend!

Oh, I bet your fish fry was yummy! I love Lindsay Letters too. Can't wait to use her 12 days of Christmas printables this year!

I had the same problem with deer eating my limelight hydrangea. I hung a bar of Irish Spring soap inside the bush. The deer hate the smell. It worked like a charm!
