This week has been crazy, with me wrapping up two kitchens, and two of my three kiddos starting school this week. Next week is the big college move-in day for my oldest. I feel like I’m in a pretty good state of mind, as it’s one of those things that I’ve been anticipating for over a year now, and mentally preparing as a result (I think). But life has a way of grabbing hold of you, so we’ll see. But I’m trying to keep it all in perspective. I’m thankful that I’m sending him off to school – I think I would be sadder if he wasn’t going to school or didn’t have a plan. And more importantly, with a slew of car accidents involving kids lately, I’m so grateful that he’s alive and that I have this opportunity to see him off to school. Just trying to take things with a little bit of levity.
Anyway, let’s get on with this week’s Friday 5+1, shall we? This post contains some affiliate links.
I Used to be Cool
I was behind this minivan at a stoplight and this “I used to be cool” bumper sticker had me cracking up. As a former driver of two different minivans, I can so relate. A great gift for a baby shower, don’t you think? Or if you know of some young parents who are making that leap into the practicality that parenthood brings.
Truth be told, I loved my Honda Odyssey – it was a great vehicle, and was perfect when the kids were younger. Those sliding doors were a game changer.
Furniture Dollies
Ok, I don’t know what the right term is, but I need these little “furniture dollies” to easily move big pieces of furniture around my shop. So nice!
Roomy Wallets
I have been known to have a George Constanza-esque wallet, filled with receipts, cards and coupons, so I need a wallet that holds a lot, while also looking stylish. So mine is something like this one. I love it. It holds a ton of stuff without being too bulky.
The Moment App
I have been listening to podcasts lately, and on one of them (can’t remember which one), there was a comment made that people will spend two years of their lives on Facebook. Wait. What?? Two years? During the course of this podcast, the discussion was around time that we spend on our phones, and how it’s much more than what you think it is. The “Moment” app is an app that tracks the amount of time you spend on your phone. How much time do you think you spend on your phone every day? Take that number and then download the app and see what the actual number is.
I’ve downloaded it, and it’s proving to be interesting. It tracks how many times you pick it up, your screen time, and your most used apps. If anything, I think it makes me more aware of how often I’m reaching for my phone, and I’d like to make a more conscious effort to use it less (which it can help you do as well).
Peel and Stick Wallpaper
I love the idea of wallpaper, but have taken down too much wallpaper to commit to adding it to my home. Enter peel and stick wallpaper. I’m thinking this would be something fun to add in parts of my shop, so that I can stage my furniture makeovers with a fun backdrop.
There are lots of fun options out there too.
How about a wood look peel and stick wallpaper?
You can even get a shiplap look with peel and stick wallpaper.
My +1 for the week – Paint Mistints
I just finished a gorgeous kitchen, only to realize when it was all finished, that my paint had been mistinted. Enough said.
Have a great weekend!

August 18, 2017 at 10:22 pmCabinet paint! For a two-toned kitchen, so not the entire job, but still upsetting!

August 18, 2017 at 10:42 amOh gosh, I bet that app is eye opening :-0 And, oh no. That would be awful to have to redo the entire project!

August 18, 2017 at 9:57 pmMistinted? Oh no!!! Do you have to start all over? What a pain!!

August 18, 2017 at 10:21 pmI guess the lucky part of it is that it’s a two-toned kitchen, so only the uppers need to be redone. Lesson learned. Every time I do a job I learn something new, I swear! 🙂
