If you’ve read my blog for any length of time, you know that I’m a house stalker, and love looking at new homes that are decked out with the latest design and architectural trends. Enter Homearama. This year’s local Homearama is in Maineville, Ohio and the homes that are featured this year are surrounded by large, lush trees, which not only makes the neighborhood feel established, but also provides gorgeous views inside and out. I usually kickoff Homearama Week on a Monday, but I am excited to share the first home, and more importantly, I have free tickets to give away!
There were five homes on the tour this year, and while it doesn’t sound like a lot, it was just the right number. All of the homes were large, and if you have too many, they start to blur together. Let’s get things started!
Chatham Cottage – Weiland Builders
Price: $1.362M
Square footage: 5309 sq. ft.

Let me start by saying that I absolutely love this house. The layout, the color palette, the fabrics and finishes. All. of. it. The main living area is similar to our own home in many ways, and if I ever get the opportunity to redo our kitchen (I’m talking complete renovation), this is how I would want it to look. The floorplan is very functional too – it makes a lot of sense, and you could see how easy it would be to move in and get settled.
The builder for this home was smart, in that they provided a sheet with interior paint colors! Oh, how I wish they all did this – so helpful, especially when you love the palette like I do.
The exterior is striking, with its architectural details and craftsman style.
And you can’t forget the window boxes.
Beautiful front doors welcome you home.
I love the front porch here too. Plenty of room to sit outside.
To the right of the entryway is the staircase leading to the basement, and this pretty light fixture. Wall color is Sherwin Williams Argos (SW7065), trim color is Snowbound(7004).
Straight ahead is the stunning great room. The family room layout is very similar to my own, minus the awkward corner fireplace. I love this setup – so many options when it comes to furniture layout, and loads of natural light coming in from the outside.
Like I said, I loved everything about this home – the color palette with the furnishings is gorgeous, as is all of the patterns that they incorporated. The drapes caught my eye right off the bat. Wall color in here continues from the main entry and is Argos (SW7065).
From the entry, we took a right, and went to see the master suite. Wall color is Colonnade Gray (SW7641).
Again, I feel like this home was designed just for me. Navy Greek key bedding? Yes, please.
These are the kinds of side tables that I need in my own bedroom – and styled perfectly.
And then the master bathroom. This fan of high contrast is loving the wall color against all of the crisp white. The wall color is Gauntlet Gray by Sherwin Williams. I’m actually painting cabinets this color right now, and it’s such an awesome color.
The bathroom vanity area is just perfect. A lighter shade of gray, lots of storage and trim (more contrast) and elegantly appointed in every way.
Some pretty detail on the bathroom flooring as well.
I even love the doorknobs in this house. The attention to detail is everywhere.
From the master bedroom, we headed downstairs.
I saw this same rug in last year’s Homearama, and still love it as a runner on these stairs.
Downstairs, there were two bedrooms that shared a Jack and Jill bathroom. This bedroom is Hazel (SW6471).
A cool charcoal gray subway tile in the shower.
Along with the second bedroom that’s located downstairs, also painted in Argos(SW7065).
In the main part of the basement there is this cool little spot where you could play cards, or just hang out and enjoy the view to the outside. Wall color is Gauntlet Gray.
The main entertaining area of the basement has a big cozy sectional, ready for some movie watching. One thing I noticed this year was that all of the basements in the homes had solid surface flooring in the main living areas. No carpet. This really got me thinking about what we will do when we eventually replace the carpet in our basement. I liked the look of the hardwoods – didn’t feel cold or uninviting in the least, and you can warm things up with rugs. Wall color in main basement area is Accessible Beige (SW7036).
From this vantage point, you can see how they made the little crawl space/storage room into a play room.
There is another office/craft room space in the basement as well. So efficient (and this is just a corner of the entire room). Wall color is Quietude (SW6212).
Plenty of room to get things situated as you walk in the door. Wall color is Argos (SW7065).
Take a look at how the refrigerator and the freezer are separate from one another and hidden beautifully into the cabinetry. Plus, the glass front cabinets are so eye catching. Instead of your “usual” lighting in the cabinets, these are illuminated with rope lighting inside the doors. Really neat and clean looking.
Love this huge island, and the countertop is quartz – such a great marble-look without the marble upkeep!
Another trend that continues again this year, is having just one large dining room space vs. a formal and casual dining room. Makes so much sense, and this one is so welcoming – gorgeous, huge table, comfy chairs that encourage you to stay awhile, pretty lighting and I can’t help but notice the drapes. The rod looks to be made of lucite. How cool is that?
And the view to the outside isn’t too shabby either.
And a shot that gives you a view from the dining area to the kitchen/family room.
This photo gives you an idea of the layout of the office. See that room off to the right? That’s the office. So. smart.
Again, a really smart feature to the layout of this home is all in the location of this beautiful home office. I love navy and high contrast, and this one checks all of the boxes. But it’s right off of the kitchen. I would totally use an office like this, since it seems like I’m in the kitchen most of the time anyway. So pretty too – I love how the navy ties in with the rest of the fabrics throughout the main living area. Wall color is Naval (SW6244).
One thing that we were told about this butler’s pantry, is that the homeowners don’t want a lot of clutter on the counters, which is why this is setup the way that it is. This is not only a pantry, but a place for small appliances as well. Great idea!
There is also another bedroom tucked away back here. Wall color is Quietude (SW6212).
Coming out from this side, you can get a better picture of the kitchen (and why I would love this layout in my own kitchen!).
Another view of the open family room setup.
Outside, you’ll find a nice little fire pit.
But still plenty of space for outdoor entertaining here too.
This room has me starting to nod my head in agreement to my husband’s idea of enclosing our outdoor porch area. What an awesome space!
So do you love this house as much as I do? I know you want the details on the colors, so I made a nice little graphic for you, and I’m detailing out which rooms have which colors. You can thank me later.
