Master Bedroom Evolution

Hello!

I haven’t posted about our master bedroom in awhile, but it has gone through some changes that I thought were blogworthy, so I’m sharing them with you today.

First, a little history to refresh your memory.  Here it is in all of it’s salmon-colored glory, when we first bought the house.

This was the first room that I painted (before we moved in).  I chose Mineral Deposit (Sherwin Williams), and it instantly changed the mood of the room.  Much calmer.  Also ditched the heavy drapes.  Ahhhh.

From there, we moved in our furniture, and I added new drapes and bamboo shades.  Works for me.

At one point, I changed out the duvet, but I never shared it here on the blog.  Here is a photo (albeit not the best, since I was getting ready to change the duvet … again).

I really love this duvet, and it works with the wall color perfectly.  But, with fall and winter kicking in (and a visit to Pottery Barn), I was ready for a change.

Remember this nugget of loveliness?  Love at first sight, I tell you.

Of course, the store didn’t have the duvet in king size, so I stalked it online and snatched it up.  Fortunately, it was on sale and I had a coupon code for free shipping.

I’m still on the hunt for some new shams, but my existing ones work for now.

And I love that this duvet still works with the wall color, even though it’s a completely different palette.  Who says blue isn’t a neutral?

I have since (finally) added a bed skirt, and also reversed the duvet cover.  Took these photos on a sunnier day – sorry for the glare.

I would love to add some pillows that bring out some of the colors in the duvet – golds, oranges or even a bit of that pretty, almost peacock, blue.  I think another trip to HomeGoods may be warranted.

Love the darker side of the duvet for the colder months – it just makes you want to dive in a cuddle up for awhile.  Especially now that we’ve lost so much daylight in the evenings.

As for the master bathroom, it still looks like it did when we bought the house.  I don’t know if I have wallpaper removal in me right now.  Usually it strikes around 10PM, when I have 12,037 other things going on.

Today is a special day here – it’s our 19th wedding anniversary.  I’m so happy to share this crazy ride with my husband, and feel so incredibly lucky to have this man in my life.

Oh the joys of pre-digital camera photography!  And in case you’re wondering, yes, I was a child bride. 😉

Have a wonderful day!

How funny that your wall color really is so versatile – it's amazing how these colors work perfectly with it too. The feel of the room is so cozy and comfy with the new duvet.
