Saturday 6+1 (6 Things I Love + 1 Thing I Don’t) – 3.24.18

This week has been one of highs and lows from a weather standpoint, here in Ohio – 60’s on Monday and then a snow day by Wednesday.  Sun has been back for the past two days, but then we have a winter weather advisory for this weekend.  Oh the joys of spring, right?  I just keep reminding myself that at least I don’t live on the east coast – I’m pretty sure I would have up and left by now.  It must be a sign of getting older, because with each passing year, I’m less tolerant of winter.

But, let’s look on the bright side, and I have some fun things to share with you this week for the Saturday 6+1!  This post contains some affiliate links.

Navy Plaid Poufs

It’s been awhile since I’ve been to Target, so when I went recently, I took my time and poked around to see what was new.  Of course, I was drawn in to the Hearth & Hand with Magnolia line that they have, and I had to remind myself that I had no need for these adorable navy plaid poufs.  (Although now I’m sitting here thinking how they could be perfect for my idea for a One Room Challenge guest room/office makeover)…  Perfect for the foot of a bed or underneath a console table, don’t you think?

I love the leather handle detail on the sides.

And you could add these faux leather storage boxes to tie it all together.

And these whimsical tab dividers actually make me want to file something.

Outdoor Decor

I know that many of you are itching for spring and summer weather right now, so I couldn’t help but find myself drawn in to the outdoor section at Target as well.  You can spruce up your outdoor space without breaking the bank by changing out your throw pillows.  So many cute pillow options here!  And don’t forget the charming little side tables along the bottom shelf.

An awesome selection of outdoor rugs too.

And let’s not forget the outdoor lanterns and string lights.  I’m really loving the polished chrome look lanterns – a pretty, high end look.  Similar to the (more expensive) ones you see at Pottery Barn or even Frontgate.

And then there are outdoor string lights too.  We still have ours from my son’s graduation party last year.  They cast such a nice glow for an outdoor party.

Flowie

If you’re looking for some fun patterned purses and pouches, check out Flowie.  I love the options from the watercolor collection.  So many bright and pretty colors and patterns to choose from, and I’m thinking it’s a great way to get you over the hump until spring is here to stay!

See what I mean?  This zipper pouch is adorable.

Or a pretty tea towel to add a punch of color to your kitchen?

Or maybe you’re looking for a pretty purse for the warmer days ahead.  How adorable is this Tulip Tote?

Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX and the Quest for a Fantastic Future

This book is definitely an outlier from the “usual” books that I read, but I have to tell you, it was quite fascinating.  If anyone is going to change the world in this century, it’s Elon Musk.  His sheer brilliance (a degree in Physics from University of Pennsylvania, as well as an economics degree from Wharton), and his ability to use these talents from a science perspective as well as a business perspective is mind-blowing to say the least.  His goal is to change the world – and he’s doing it.  He’s quirky, eccentric, demanding, and sometimes is lacking when it comes to interpersonal skills (as seems to be the case for technology company founders in general it seems), but you can’t help but be drawn in by what he has accomplished so far.  Suffice to say that after listening to this book, a Tesla is my dream car.  Definitely worth a listen!

The Wife Between Us

The Wife Between Us is one of those suspense types of books that I seem to get drawn into so easily.  One of my girlfriends shared it with me, and I hopped right in because I was looking for a new book.  I jumped in with both feet, (as did my friend), and we found ourselves texting back and forth about what was happening in the book.  Be prepared to re-read some parts, because you’re sitting there like, “whaaaaaaat?”.  I’m not going to go into the story too much because I don’t want to spoil it, but if you like suspense – you’ll like this book.

That Sugar Film

I will be sure to share more once I am further along in the process, but suffice to say, I’m working on cleaning up my diet.  It’s one of those things that I have been wanting to do for awhile, but gearing up for it has taken some time, as it involves a one week “sugar detox”.  I felt like a drug addict getting ready for rehab.  I’m still on week one, but I’m already starting to feel the fog lift.  Better yet, I’m getting buy in from the rest of my family, slowly but surely.  We watched That Sugar Film last night and if that doesn’t make you want to clean up your diet, I don’t know what will.  It’s really eye opening.

I have always been good about exercise – but food – that’s another story.  I have a sweet tooth.  Always have.  So, I’m working on it (and it’s not the keto diet, in case you’re wondering).  But, I feel like I’m making steps in the right direction, and it feels good.

My +1 for the week – Returning Things

Am I alone in my sense of dread in returning items to the store, or heaven forbid, having to mail them back?  That involves one of the other +1 things that I dread, the Post Office.  So, it’s a double whammy in some cases.  I know it’s silly, but I hate it.  I think someone should come up with a service where I could hand over my return items, and not have to deal with it.

Have an awesome weekend friends!

Jenny

    Hello Jenny,
I’m waiting in reference to the book THE WIFE BETWEEN US. I i has ent heard of this book before, so I immediately tried to check out on library app (about a 10 week hold list). I always read Amazon reviews about anything I’m interested in. Starting with the worst, to determine whether if it is just a couple of opinions or a larger group of opinions. Anyway, I’m hoping to hear what your opinion is on this one. 👍🏼

I’m embarrassed at how many things have ended up in the donate pile because I didn’t mail them back. I HATE the post office.

    Also the poofs….a definite need.

The post office has package pick up! Best thing ever! And if you don’t have a return mailing label, all you need is a scale and paypal!
