Hello!
I know posts have been a bit behind this week, but that’s because I have been on California time – on an all too brief break, enjoying some warm sunshine. It’s amazing what that does for your mind and spirit isn’t it? I’m loving every bit of it and soaking it all in, let me tell you. So let’s get down to business with this week’s edition of Friday 5+1 (5 Things I Like + 1 Thing I Don’t) – 2.5.16.
Spring Tulips
When I spotted these beautiful tulips at one of my favorite local shops – Fleurish Home, I had to stop and do a double take. I touched them, and quickly pulled back my hand because I thought they were real. Unlike some artificial flowers, these felt real. So pretty, and a nice pop of spring during the dreary winter months.
New Farrow and Ball Colors
I have long been a fan of Farrow and Ball’s colors, and they just released nine beautiful new colors for 2016. Have you seen them? So fresh and pretty – I love how you can mix and match them seamlessly.
Wholly Guacamole Minis – 100 Calorie Packs
I know I’m hopping all over the place, but that’s the way these Friday 5+1 posts work sometimes. There is always talk about getting enough healthy fats in your diet, and these Wholly Guacamole 100 Calorie Packs are a great way to get it, without overdoing it (which is easy to do when it comes to guacamole). They’re so delicious, and a great addition to a salad, veggie burger (which I use it for frequently), etc…
Mid-Century Furniture Makeovers
I picked up my first two mid-century pieces to redo last week, and I’m so excited to get them done! I’m loving some of the inspiration I’m finding out there. Like this gorgeous piece from The Weathered Door – her work is simply fantastic! I can’t wait to share the pieces once they’re finished. A fun change of pace from some of the other furniture pieces I’ve been working on lately.
Canyon Hiking
So, I’m in the Laguna Beach area, and had the opportunity to take an amazing hike in one of their canyons, loaded with all sorts of trails, and spectacular views. I love how active you can be out here, without it getting boring. Sure beats the same old walk around the block when I’m at home. I could get used to this.
My +1 for the week –
Frosting for cakes. I made a birthday cake for my mom, and despite the claim of “15% more frosting”, I still fell short in being able to completely frost a cake with one tub of icing. Shouldn’t one box of cake mix + 1 box of frosting = One Frosted Cake? It’s not like I’m going crazy with the frosting here, people.
That’s it for me – have a fantastic weekend!

February 8, 2016 at 7:54 amYES the frosting cans don’t cover anymore and considering they have reduced the size of the cakes from 18 oz. to 15 oz. you would think we’d have extra frosting! I have resorted to making my own just so I am sure I have enough!
