The weather is turning a bit cooler here, and what a great way to usher in a new season, but with Homearama 2024 Trends! I have been going to these shows for 20+ years now, and they never get old. I love seeing the trends, and always am on the lookout for ideas to incorporate in my own home. There were six homes on the tour this year, and I found things I liked, some trends across them, and some things I didn’t like. Overall, a great show. However, I’m going to have to break this down into a couple of posts, because there is just too much to share! Here are some of the Homearama 2024 trends that I think you’ll appreciate the most.
Wallpaper Lives
Although I didn’t see a lot in the way of large rooms being covered in wallpaper, I did see a lot of powder rooms and smaller spaces that pulled it in beautifully. While I have been hesitant to add wallpaper to my home because of the PTSD I have with removing it, I really do love the look on a smaller scale. The trick is finding something that has longevity, that you won’t tire of too quickly. That’s a tall order for me!
This butler’s pantry was such an eye catching look! The kitchen was very subtle and warm, so this was a nice surprise, hidden away a bit. The only thing I don’t love is all of the long handled hardware. It feels distracting to me, and I would have loved to see some knobs in the mix here. But other than that, I have no complaints. Hopefully the sink won’t cause an issue for the wallpaper behind it…
Loved this wallpaper – such pretty colors and a nice neutral palette.
I don’t feel like this picture does this room justice. It was a really beautifully done room with a soft color palette, making for a cozy primary bedroom.
This was a nice way to incorporate some texture and contrast with wallpaper. The beautiful grasscloth tied in well with the color palette and kept the room from feeling too dark, giving it some added interest with the wood molding.
Green Dominates
I mentioned earlier that color is making a comeback, but green was definitely a consistent trend throughout multiple homes. It was typically found in medium to deeper shades, and incorporated with neutrals, or even rusts in some cases. It was in wall colors, cabinetry, tiles, textiles, you name it. Really sharp and pretty.
This tile look in this dining room is just perfect. The right amount of color and pattern to make a statement, without overpowering the room. And I love the tile design.
This family room was so cozy and inviting. Neutral, but with the subtle addition of rust and green accents throughout. Gorgeous. And easy to change as your tastes change too.
All in on the green in this office. It was really pretty – my photo isn’t doing it justice.
Love these green cubbies, and don’t even get me started on that floor. Probably my favorite tile of the show.
Even a green entryway ceiling!
Cute Kid Spaces
There were kid spaces tucked in around these homes in all different places. Some fun basement bunk rooms, cozy bed nooks and paint treatments that I really loved. While my kids are grown, I would be totally down to create a grandkid space when the time comes!
What kid wouldn’t want to hang out in this bunk room with cousins? I love this space so much – it was in the basement of one of the homes. Vibrant colors and fun prints, with lights for everyone too.
And then there’s the hidden bookcase door…
Taking you to a Taylor Swift hideaway. All in the same space. Really fun.
Meanwhile, another home had a warm and welcoming kid’s space with room for everything. Again, light included.
The paint color is Sherwin Williams’ Sea Salt. I asked. You’re welcome. It caught my eye too!
This boy’s room is sweet and fun. A great window seat in here too – it was wider than what you usually see, and I could totally see a kid curling up there.
A few of the kid’s rooms we saw had painted ceilings, and I really loved the look. It was soft and subtle without being overwhelming or distracting. It just made the room more inviting.
I really liked the painted ceiling with the line of this room.
Even the tile in the shower is sweet.
Still, there is a lot of ground to cover, and I haven’t even really touched on kitchens yet. A lot to see there – more to come!
