Hello!
It’s hard to believe we’ve begun a(nother) new year isn’t it? This time of year is always great for reflecting on accomplishments and looking forward to a fresh start for the months ahead. One of the great things about blogging, is that I have a record of what I’ve done (around the house anyway).
So, let’s see how I measured up to the plans I set forth for 2012. Here is a quick list of what I hoped to accomplish:
- The stairs
- Flooring (the family room!)
- The family room fireplace
- Jack and Jill bathroom makeover
- Dining room update
I’m happy to report that I can actually check off some of these projects! The stairs and the family room floor updates were knocked out just in the nick of time. I’m still loving them, and really don’t mind the upkeep, since they look brand new with a quick clean-up.
The family room fireplace is still a work in progress! Lots of tweaking still taking place, and it’s one of those projects where you learn as you go. My husband is half-tempted to tear it all down and start again, but I said NO! We’ve come so far, and are so close to finishing. We’ll see how it all comes out. Suffice to say, I should have a parking spot at Lowe’s with my name on it, since I’ve lost track of the number of trips we’ve made to that place!
Here is a peek at how it looks… We’ve actually made more progress, but you’ll just have to wait and see the finished product. 🙂
The kids’ Jack and Jill bathroom was also on my to-do list this year, and I’m happy to report that project is COMPLETE! Sadly, my hypothesis that the hooks I installed would lead to fewer towels on the floor did not turn out to be true. But, at least they’re easy to pick up and hang up!
And then there is the dining room. Last year at this time, I had just taken down the wallpaper, and it looked like this:
